I always felt that Japanese food is a little too pricey in Saskatoon; so luckily there are a couple of Japanese buffet around town to satisfy my cravings ! Nagoya Japanese Restaurant is on 8th Street, pretty close to another Japanese Buffet, Go For Sushi. Both offer pretty good buffet deals for lunch and dinner. Best part is, ordering is done through menu, rather than having to stand and go to the buffet area like in your typical buffet restaurants ( talking about being lazy…@__@").

Pretty good ambience and spacious as well |
So, basically, you just tick what you want on the menu ( you can order a few times for sure!) and wait for food to be served.

Nice pot of green tea |
Since, there were only two of us, we didn't really get to order much but we did get to try a variety of things as most can be ordered as singles or according to the pieces you want. We had a few appetizers such as the seaweed salad, japanese fried chicken, spring rolls and tempura scallop and shrimp. All were equally good ! We also had some squid, not to my liking but its fresh enough~

Appetiser : Spring roll & Shrimp spring roll |
I especially like the special roll ( again, just the two of us, so limited amount that we can order). We had the black dragon roll which had like the best combination ever ; tempura shrimp, eel and avocado. Loved this ! And considering that I have been to a couple of Japanese restaurants in Saskatoon, I do think their sushis are well-made. Salmon was ..salmon; nothing to shout about, just the usual. We also tried pizza sushi. Wrong choice of order for us though. Its basically fried sushi made into a shape of pizza and with mixture of a little bit of everything; salmon, tuna, spicy sauce. Unless you have a few to share, I though it was a little too much for us. Taste was pretty ok for me although my friend didn't really like it. Sashimi was fresh and goes well with the wasabi and soy sauce.

Black Dragon Roll : Loved this! |

Grilled salmon |
|
Sushi Pizza : Deep fried sushi rice with a mixture of mayonaise, chipotle, salmon, tuna. |
|
A variety of sushis and sashimis |
|
Dessert : Deep fried banana and green tea ice cream |
Overall, I do think its worth eating here. A great variety and with no rush during eating; order-as-you-like setting. Waitresses are quite attentive and you can also ask them for recommendations!
